Companies House – Director

Startup director working from home?

Companies House – where a new director registers a startup business.

Covid has hit everyone very hard over the past year and with it has come much uncertainty.

People have been furloughed, or lost their jobs. Businesses have dissolved or stopped trading.

Many of you have resorted to working from home or have created a new startup business.

It can be daunting starting a new business but the first step to getting a limited company set up is to register the name at Companies House.

Many new business owners will start off working from home. It’s not always a good idea to advertise a home address so what can you do?

The simple solution is to get a registered office address, or virtual office address if you’re a sole trader.

A virtual office address is an alternative to a physical location where you get your everyday mail sent to. You can also advertise it as your business address.

A registered office address is the place you register your limited company and is for HMRC purposes only.

FOSVA offers a combination of the two in London – so once you have registered with Companies House, you can receive both your HMRC and your normal company post at no extra cost.

Until 31 December 2021 you can save 50% off the annual cost and you won’t have to pay the deposit either as that will also be waived.
